The Assam State Warehousing Corporation established in 1958 under the agricultural produce (Development of Warehousing) 1956 which was later replaced by the Warehousing Corporation Act, 1962 primarily with the objectives of providing warehousing facilities of agricultural produce and certain other commodities and for activities connected therewith.
The objectives of the corporation is to acquire/ build warehouses at the request of the parties/ clients & citizen. Besides warehousing services, ASWC also provides a package of services briefed as below:
- Provision of space to accept notified commodities from various clients.
- Acts as an enabler for credit through pledge of negotiable warehouse receipts with banks.
- Scientific storage through a chain of 42 centres throughout the state at reasonable rates.
- Handling and transport facilities to depositors on their request on actual plus nominal supervision charges.
- Help the depositors to keep his goods indemnified against loss of damage due to fire, floods and burglary.
- Disinfestations extension services to traders, farmers & organizations.
- Expert advice and training on storage problems of agricultural commodities.
