Scientific modern warehouses for storage of food grain, tea, fertilizer, cement, jute, industrial equipments, electronic goods, jute and all other notified commodities. With a Total storage capacity of 2.5 lac M.T (1500000 Sq. ft.) built up area and 2710 M.T (16,260 Sq. ft) Temporary shed. There are provisions for leasing out open storage spaces also.
A) PRINCIPLES OF SCIENTIFIC STORAGE
1) Storing grain clean and dry and avoidance of cross infestation.
2)Storing grains in storage worthy structures with proper dunnage and avoidance moisture absorption.
3) Maintenance of godown SPIC and SPAN and undertaking periodic inspection of stock health and regular prophylactic measures.
4) Undertaking immediate curative treatment of noticing infestation and timely rodent control.
5) Liquidation of stock on FIRST-IN-FIRST-OUT basis.
B) FUMIGATION PLAN- Before fumigation starts it must be ensure that commodity can be fumigated with the chosen fumigant. Establish the dose, time and duration of the fumigation, check for impervious surfaces, choose a safe fumigation site. Identify what may wrong and prepare to deal with it. Ensure that appropriate staff and equipments are available.
Fumigation Site- Ideally sheltered from strong winds. The floor of the fumigation enclosure must be smooth,flat & free from cracks and drains. Site needs easy access to power, lighting and water.
Fumigation Floor- The floor of any fumigation enclosure must be gas tight, free of cracks,drains or other openings so that it can retain the fumigant levels at or above the standard over the whole exposure period, flat and free of stones or other sharp objects, able to form a gas, tight seal with the sheet.
Sheeting the enclosure- When sheeting the enclosure, ensure that the sheet is protected from sharp corners or objects. Create a gas tight seal using sand or stone. Roll & clip/tape corners. Prevent flapping and extend the sheet half a meter from base of the container.
Risk Assessment- Conduct a risk assessment to ensure that:-
- Fumigant can be applied and vented safely.
- All personnel have appropriate PPE kit.
- The site is secure from unauthorised entry.
- Fumigation areas are marked with warning signs and a barrier set up.
