Aims and Objectives of Assam State Warehousing Corporation
The principal objectives of the Corporation are:-
- To acquire and build warehouse at such a place within the State of Assam, where it will help the people of that area to store their agricultural and other products.
- To run warehouses in the state for scientific storage and preservation of agricultural produce, seeds, fertilizer etc.
- To arrange facility for the transportation of all kinds of stored produce to and from the warehouse.
- To act as an agent of the CWC & the Government for the purpose of purchase , storage and distribution of all agricultural produce as stated in (b)
- To carry out such other functions as may be prescribed from time to time.
- To carry out DESS (Disinfestations Extension Service Schemes)/ FESS (Farmers Extension Service Scheme) etc.
- To check distress sale by the farmers, the corporation is to help the depositor to avail bank finance against pledging of warehouse receipt.
In addition to above, the Assam State Warehousing Corporation is the largest operator of tea warehouses. The Corporation is storing tea meant for Auction under GTAC as well as export in its scientifically constructed godowns having I.C.D Complex for the last 12 years.
